lan Nowell studied drawing and painting at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, California with Lorser Feitelson, John La Gatta and Audubon Tyler. He has continued his education through the years, studying Plein Air painting with Jeff Horn, Elizabeth Tolley, and Debra Huse, and studying portrait painting with Daniel Green, and John Howard Sanden.
Alan paints landscapes and cityscapes up and down the California coast and in Colorado. He teaches plein air painting to beginning and intermediate students at the San Clemente Art Supply store three or four times a year. His home and studio are in San Clemente, California where he lives with his wife Nancy and two Jack Russell Terriers.
Alan’s paintings are currently being shown at the Frame House Gallery in San Clemente, California and at the Link Gallery in Cheyanne, Wyoming.
